Official: Russia not to levy metals export duty, scrap restrictions
MOSCOW, Feb 20 (PRIME) -- The Russian government has no plans to introduce export duties for metals, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich told reporters on Friday after a government meeting on the issue.
The government has held a series of meetings and negotiations with metal makers to stop a sharp growth of metal prices for domestic consumers in the wake of ruble devaluation.
Dvorkovich said the government does not plan to restrict ferrous- and non-ferrous metals scrap.
“There will be no limits and no bans,” he said.
Russia’s Industry and Trade Ministry earlier proposed to temporarily limit or ban ferrous and non-ferrous scrap exports from April to hold down the prices.
